Bonfires: Commercial
It is an offence to cause dark or black smoke from any trade or industrial premises, unless Herefordshire Council has previously authorised it.
It is also illegal to burn most stubble, apart from certain types of crop.

Car Parks
Herefordshire Council is responsible for Car Parks. See their website for the list of car parks and charges.

Commercial Waste
Herefordshire Council provides a business waste collection service throughout the county. This includes different sized bins which can be emptied weekly or fortnightly.

Dead Animals
If you find a dead cat or dog or other animal that is the size of a dog or larger on the highway or public open space, Herefordshire Council will remove it. Herefordshire Council have a microchip scanner which may help to identify the owner of any tagged pet.
Please be ready to provide details, including the precise location.
Herefordshire Council do not collect smaller animals such as squirrels, pheasants or rabbits.

Dog Fouling
Dog poo is a health hazard, all dog owners have a legal duty to clean up after their dog. Failure to do so could result in a Dog Control Order with an £80 fixed penalty notice, or a maximum fine of £1,000. Please use the Herefordshire Council online form to report dog poo.

Fly Posting
Fly posting is the unauthorised display of advertising material – this includes posters, leaflets and stickers. They are usually placed without the owners permission on lamp posts, railings, buildings, telephone boxes and other prominent locations, often adjacent to the highway. Fly posters may face an £80 fixed penalty or court proceedings.
The council is responsible for removing graffiti and flyposting from public buildings, street furniture and monuments. Other items, like telephone boxes, bus shelters and electricity boxes, are the responsibility of the company which owns them.

Graffiti
Graffiti is illegal. Any words or drawings which are written, painted, sprayed or scratched onto a property without the owner’s consent is considered to be graffiti. Herefordshire Council aims to remove graffiti of a sexual, racial or offensive (contains expletives) nature within 24 hours of being reported. Do this by using the online form.

Pest Control
Herefordshire Council offers a pest control service for commercial premises only. They are not able to offer pest control services for any domestic premises. They are a member of The National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA) and all full-time members of their team have a Royal Society of Public Health pest control certificate. They are DBS checked and so are clear to work in establishments where there are children and vulnerable adults.
Their pest control team may be able to call outside standard business hours and can visit at weekends during a busy wasp season.
They can help with:

· Advice on preventing re-infestation

Stray Dogs
A stray dog is any dog that appears to be without its owner and is straying on public or other land. If the dog needs urgent medical treatment, you can contact a local vet.
If you find a stray dog without any identification, or if you have lost a dog contact Herefordshire Council – Monday to Friday – 9am to 4.15pm.
