Mayor plants tree to mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

The Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Cllr John Winder, planted a tree at the Prospect on Friday 11th March as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy scheme. The tree, a Platanus Acerifolia London Plane, is understood to be one of the Queen’s favourite trees.

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.

With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC encourages planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.
