Tourism and Events Officer
Ross-on-Wye Town Council is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and proactive Tourism and Events Officer to help showcase everything our beautiful town has to offer.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting Ross-on-Wye as a destination for visitors while also engaging residents through marketing initiatives and a varied programme of events. You’ll develop and deliver tourism campaigns, work with local businesses and community
partners, and organise events that celebrate and enhance the town.
We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, a passion for tourism and place promotion, and the ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience or qualifications in tourism, marketing, events or a related field would be an advantage, but we welcome applicants with transferable skills
and a willingness to learn. Full training will be provided.

NOTICE OF VACANCY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy is deemed to have occurred in the office of Councillor for the above Parish following the Resignation of Saskia Harrison.
Rule 5 of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006, provides that on a casual vacancy occurring in the office of parish councillor, an election to fill the vacancy shall be held if within fourteen days* after the date of this notice (i.e. no later than Friday, 31 July 2026) has been given in accordance with section 87(2)
of the Local Government Act 1972, notice in writing of a request for such an election has been given to the proper officer of the council of the district within which the parish is situate by TEN electors for the parish.
If a request for an election is not received by the above deadline then the parish council will co-opt a person to fill the vacancy as soon as practicable in accordance with the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) Rules 1986.
If there is an election, it will take place not later than 60 days (excluding dies non) after the date this notice is published.

Footpath Officer vacancy
Ross-on-Wye Town Council is looking for volunteer Footpath Officers.
The Parish Footpath Officer (PFO) plays a vital role in surveying, maintaining, and enhancing the Public Rights of Way (PROW) network within Ross-on-Wye.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to play a practical role in keeping local footpaths accessible for the community.
The volunteer would carry out regular surveys of public rights of way in the allocated parish in accordance to the PROW protocols and report any issues on the network to Herefordshire Council via their website, whilst liaising with Ross-on-Wye Town Council to keep them informed of activities through a regular report to the Amenities Sub-Committee meetings. The role would be hands-on and will involve practical tasks such as installing and maintaining waymarkers and signage, cutting back overgrown hedging and vegetation, and helping to clear paths where light obstructions have occurred.
Where more significant issues are identified on the network, such as damaged structures or blocked routes, these will be reported to Herefordshire Council through their online reporting system.
