Your chance to soak the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye

SOAK THE STARK

On Saturday 10th June the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Cllr Louis Stark, will be holding a fundraising event at the Market House for his Charity of the Year, EnviroAbility.

The event ‘Soak the Stark’ will involve Cllr Stark being placed in a pillory and members of the public will be given the opportunity to throw a wet sponge at the Mayor. Several other Town Councillors will also be taking part. The event will run from 11am – 2pm and will cost £2 per sponge, or 3 sponges for £5. All money raised will be going to the EnviroAbility.

The Mayor said: “Please do come along and support this fundraising initiative for EnviroAbility who do such important work in the town while having a bit of fun. Although I am not sure it will be as much fun for myself and fellow Councillors.”

EnviroAbility provides people from disadvantaged groups with work opportunities and experiences, which is both valued and visible to the larger community. They listen to the people they support, helping them to understand their own abilities, discover that they do best, and identify and develop their project or role.

The Mayor would like to thank Walford Timber who has kindly donated the wood for the pillory which has been expertly made by the Town Council’s Amenities team, Morrisons Ross-on-Wye for the donation of the buckets and sponges and the Town Council staff for organising the event.
