26/7/21: Forest of Dean Brass launches summer concerts

After a long awaited return to our Bands in the Park free summer concert series due to the pandemic, Sunday afternoon started to feel a little more normal as we welcomed the Forest of Dean Brass to Ross-on-Wye to launch the 2021 programme.

The sun almost shone but at least it was warm and dry, and Kelsmoor Dairy provided the ice cream to keep everyone cool. The support from the community was as always very encouraging, with over 100 people attending along with chairs, blankets, friends and family – hopefully a sign of things to come as we continue to ease out of lockdown.

Several positive comments were received on social media including ‘Lovely concert and great to see so many there‘, ‘It was a great afternoon and the weather was perfect, thanks to everyone involved‘ and ‘Had a lovely afternoon glad the bands are back‘. Our thanks extend to David Harding for all his efforts in organising the concert programme. He commented: “It’s been so hard to book the bands this year with the Covid pandemic and for bands to get an ensemble to play. Forest of Dean Brass had five borrowed players yesterday to make up numbers due to self-isolating and illness. I thought that they provided a wonderful range in their program and it was played to an excellent standard.”

We are very much looking forward to welcoming the Pillowell Silver Band next Sunday – same time, same place!
