The Countdown to the Annual Ross Christmas Fayre Begins

Crowds at Christmas Fayre

The much-loved Ross-on-Wye Christmas Fayre returns to the town centre on Sunday 30th November from 11am to 5pm, promising a fun-filled day of festive entertainment, shopping, and community spirit.

Over 80 traders will line the streets, offering unique gifts, crafts, seasonal produce and hot food, while visitors enjoy a variety of street entertainment and live music throughout the day. For the first time, Station Street will also be transformed into a foodie’s heaven as it will be packed with vendors offering delicious street food and sweet treats.

Santa will be making an early visit to his Grotto at The Venue on Hill Street, which is being organised by and in aid of Age UK Wyvern this year. You may also spot some of his elves, one of which has some magic tricks up his sleeve, or even the Grinch walking around the Fayre, so keep an eye out.

Once again, Crofts Court will host a giant Snow Globe Photo Point, offering visitors the chance to capture a magical festive memory — completely free of charge. You can also get a photo at the creative ‘face-in-the-hole’ board, made by students from John Kyrle High School.

At 4:30pm, this year’s switch-on star Oliver Slater will light up the Market House and Christmas tree – Oliver was chosen by our Fayre’s switch-on sponsors – Dawley’s, Taylor Wimpey, and REHAU – following an overwhelming number of nominations after spending the 2024 festive period and his 7th birthday in hospital for bone cancer treatment. The town will shine even brighter this year with two new cross-street Christmas lights on Brookend Street. Ross Town Council is grateful to Herefordshire County BID, who have helped fund these new additions though its Market Town Grant.

The Town Council extends its thanks to all sponsors – Dawley’s, Taylor Wimpey, REHAU and HCR Law – and volunteers. We are once again grateful to Ross Rotary, whose donation helps fund the town’s Christmas tree, and Scaffolding 2000 for donating the stage. The event continues to grow year on year, bringing together residents, businesses, and visitors to celebrate the start of the festive season. So wrap up warm, bring your family and friends, and enjoy a day of festive fun at the Ross Christmas Fayre on Sunday 30th November! Parking is free at all council owned car parks on a Sunday, so we encourage you to make use of these facilities or public transport when planning your visit.
