Each November, the people of Ross-on-Wye come together to honour and remember those who gave their lives in service to their country.

A busy time for the Ross and District Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) who will launch their annual poppy appeal on Thursday 23rd October.  The Ross and District Poppy Appeal will be running stalls at Morrisons and Aldi from Thursday 23rd October to Saturday 8th November.

On Remembrance Sunday, 9th November, serving military personnel, veterans, Naval, Army and Air Cadets along with Scouts and Guides will parade under the guidance of WO Clinton Marsh RAF.  The parade will form up at 10am at the Police Station on Old Maids Walk and proceed to the War Memorial at The Prospect.

Everyone is warmly invited to gather at The Prospect from 10.30am where civic dignitaries and representatives of local organisations and clubs will join the town’s formal act of remembrance.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony, a Remembrance Sunday service will be held at St. Mary’s Church with refreshments served afterwards.

On Armistice Day, Tuesday 11th November, a short act of commemoration and a two-minute silence will take place at the Market House.  The silence will begin and end with the firing of a maroon from The Prospect.
