In trying to help business in the town pick again following lockdown and to offer an outdoor area for people to sit, the Council has initiated the use of tables and chairs under the Market House for anyone to sit to eat take away food or drinks. It is staffed to ensure that everything is cleaned between visitors and that track and trace details are kept. An experimental six week period has proven to be so popular that it’s been decided to continue until the end of October.
Councillors will decide whether to use the underscroft again next spring as a seating area in the new year.
