Broad Street resurfacing works planned after defects identified
5 September 2025

Following resurfacing works last year, various defects have been identified on Broad Street by Herefordshire Council. Following a period of monitoring, and after liaison with contractors, it has been agreed that the current surface course will be removed and re-laid at no cost to Herefordshire Council.
In order to safely carry out these works as efficiently as possible, a road closure will be in place from Monday 22nd September 2025 to (and including) Friday 10th October 2025. The road will be closed between overnight 1900hrs and 0500hrs (Monday to Friday only).
The works will be taking place under a road closure with a fully signed diversion route being displayed locally. They will do all they can to provide vehicular access to properties, although there may be times when they are not able to do so safely or there may be delays. You can get help and guidance from the dedicated marshals on site.
During these times, they will require a clear road therefore kindly request all vehicles are removed before 1900hrs each night.
A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we will do all that we can to minimise the impact of our work whilst a new surface is laid.
“The programme of work may change in certain circumstances, such as bad weather. This may happen at short notice and without further written notification. All changes will be highlighted on the advance warning signs, which you’ll find onsite at the roadworks.
